Canvas assignment planner: turn due dates into a study plan
A Canvas due date tells you when work must be submitted. It does not reserve time to read, draft or revise. A useful assignment planner connects the deadline to a small next action and a realistic work session, especially when several courses compete for the same evening.

The short answer
Use Canvas to confirm the assignment instructions and your submission deadline. In Nonlate, connect Canvas through the supported setup available to your account, check the imported tasks, and plan the work alongside your other commitments. Keep Canvas as the reference for course requirements and submission status.
Start by checking the assignment in Canvas
Open the actual assignment before organizing it. Note the instructions, due time and any separate availability period. In Canvas, the due date and the dates when an assignment is available serve different purposes. Check the deadline shown for your own assignment rather than copying another student’s date.
If a teacher changes the requirements, verify them in Canvas. A planner is a useful working view, but should not replace the source when you need to confirm where to submit or whether a late submission is accepted.
Bring the deadline into a workable plan
Nonlate supports Canvas as a connected source, but available data and connection steps depend on the service, permissions and app version. Follow the instructions shown in Nonlate rather than assuming every school has identical sign-in settings. If a task is missing, check the source and connection before relying on the list.
- Connect Canvas using the supported Nonlate setup and review the tasks that appear. Check names and due times against Canvas.
- Add a manual task for work you need to track separately, such as reading or preparing an outline. Avoid creating a duplicate of every imported assignment.
- Choose a specific next action and reserve a realistic work session in Planner or Schedule. Leave time to submit and check the result in Canvas.
- After changes in Canvas, refresh Nonlate and review the task again. Sync timing varies by provider, plan, permissions and device; updates are not guaranteed to be instant.
Protect the work time without confusing deadlines and events
A calendar entry can remind you of a class or a work session. Calendar events do not trigger Nonlate blocking. Blocking instead checks eligible unfinished tasks and the selected due-work window when a selected distracting app opens. Simply scheduling an assignment does not change its deadline or activate a timed lock.
After finishing, confirm submission in Canvas and review the task state in Nonlate. Do not assume that marking something complete in a planner submits your work or updates the course record. Nonlate does not verify the quality or submission of an assignment. Other eligible unfinished tasks may still keep blocking active, and supported timed breaks remain available.
Common questions
Can I use the planner without connecting Canvas?
Yes. Nonlate’s Free plan includes manual tasks and core blocking for up to three distracting apps. You can enter the work yourself and check Canvas for changes.
Is Canvas syncing free forever?
External connections have separate limits. The optional 30-day source trial starts with the first successful connection and allows one source at a time. It has no automatic charge. When it expires, external syncing pauses; imported tasks remain available for local completion and blocking. Continued syncing requires an appropriate paid plan.
Will Nonlate submit my assignment?
No. Use Canvas for submitting work and checking course requirements. Nonlate helps organize tasks, plan work and interrupt selected distractions; it does not guarantee completion.
